# What is the real-time meter Power Hub and how does it work?

2026-10-22When customers look back at their electricity use, they can see how much electricity was used during a particular hour or day. The history does not show what is happening at home right now, when the car starts charging while the oven and heat pump are running. Our Power Hub real-time meter reads data from the electricity meter so customers can follow the change in the app as it happens.

 Summary

[Power Hub](https://bitvis.se/en/our-offering/power-hub) is our real-time meter for energy companies. Your customers connect it to the electricity meter and home Wi-Fi so the readings can be shown in [Power App](https://bitvis.se/en/our-offering/power-app). [Load balancing](https://bitvis.se/en/our-functions/load-balancing) and [power control](https://bitvis.se/en/our-functions/power-control) are included in Power Flow and use the same readings when the customer has connected a compatible charging station.

 ## From the electricity meter to the app

The customer connects the real-time meter to the electricity meter and then connects it to home Wi-Fi using the app. Once online, Power Hub sends the readings to Power Flow, which shows them directly in the app. There, the customer can follow the home's total electricity use and see how the load is distributed across the phases.

Electricity meters use different connections. Power Hub is therefore available in variants for RJ12, RJ45 and Kamstrup, and the correct variant must be selected for the customer's meter.

## Customers can see electricity use change

If the customer starts the oven, plugs in the car or switches off a large load, the graph changes immediately. The customer can follow both total electricity use and the load on each phase, but the meter does not determine which appliance caused the change. The customer therefore compares the pattern with what was just switched on or off at home.

This distinguishes real-time measurement from consumption history, where the customer sees the result afterwards rather than the change as it happens. Real-time measurement is available in the same app as prices, contracts, invoices and consumption history, so the customer does not need to open a separate app to understand what is happening at home or control connected resources.

## The readings are used to adapt EV charging

When the customer has connected a compatible charging station, load balancing and power control use the same readings. The real-time meter follows the load in the home, while Power Flow adjusts the charging current according to the customer's choices.

Load balancing monitors the load on each phase and compares it with the fuse level selected by the customer. If a phase approaches the limit, charging can be reduced until other equipment uses less electricity and capacity becomes available again.

Power control instead compares the home's average power during the hour with a limit selected by the customer. The customer can receive a warning or let Power Flow reduce charging when the limit is at risk of being exceeded.

The meter itself does not control appliances in the home. It gives Power Flow the current readings needed to adapt charging to the load and the customer's settings.

## Under the energy company's name

Power Hub is part of Power Flow, where real-time measurement, the app and control functions use the same data. We develop both the meter and the software that receives and uses the readings.

The packaging, Power App, [My Pages](https://bitvis.se/en/our-offering/my-pages) and [Dashboard](https://bitvis.se/en/our-offering/dashboard) can be adapted to your brand. Customers see your name when Power Hub is delivered and when they open the app, while your team works in Dashboard.

In Dashboard, customer service can see which devices the customer has connected and their current status. Your team handles questions that can be resolved with this information, while cases requiring deeper technical troubleshooting are passed on to us. You retain the customer relationship, and we take care of the technology behind the service.
