# We build technology that has to work in people's homes

Bitvis builds an app, a real-time meter and the platform behind them so energy companies can help their customers understand and control electricity at home. We develop both hardware and software in Linköping. Your work spans the whole product, and you see energy companies and their customers use what you build.

## Why what we build is needed

More homes have an electric car, a heat pump or solar panels, while electricity has become harder to understand and plan. Bitvis gives energy companies the tools to help their customers see what is happening and control when electricity is used. When households charge the car or heat the house at other times, the load falls when the electricity system is under strain. We therefore start in the customer's home, so the grid that already exists can be used better.

 ## The people you work with

We share what we learn and speak up when something does not work. In Slack a thread about a release issue can be followed by customer feedback and an unexpectedly long discussion about 3D printers.

 ### People who want to understand the whole chain

A question can start at the electricity meter and end in the app. That is why the people who build the product work closely with the people who meet customers, and anyone who is curious learns far more than their own part.

  ### From talk to something people use

An idea over coffee is only the beginning. The fun part is seeing it work at an energy company or in a customer's home a few weeks later.

  ### Live operations beat a polished demo

We like demos, but a product counts when the customer uses it and support can help when questions arise. When something breaks, we work out why together.

## Software and hardware under the same roof

We have an office in Linköping and like meeting there, although several roles are hybrid. The teams work closely together. It is often easier to solve a tricky question by walking a few metres than by booking another meeting.

There is a 3D printer in the office and colleagues who are happy to run a CAD session for anyone who is curious. Friday breakfasts and Wednesday fika happen too.
